Welcome to old and new friends alike, thanks for visiting. With much anticipation from both me and my followers, this website is up and working fabulously, (thanks to my husband, Steve), while I shoot the last few photos (I’m waiting on a few new babies to come into my life this fall). It means more to me that all of the pictures are of my kids, my nieces and nephews, friends and their kids. I couldn’t have done it without their help and inspiration. They continue to be an interesting and entertaining group of kids.
I am a hat maker from Chicago and my name is Kate Strong. I have an art degree in Fibers with an emphasis in surface design from Southern Illinois University. I look at fleece through an artist’s eye, and I use different hand working techniques to get my vision across.
Quality materials are the key, along with a keen attention to style and detail. The polar fleece that I use is American made and is the best quality pill-free fleece available. Easy care, just machine wash, tumble dry and it always looks great. My design inspiration comes from all over. I look to many different cultures to see which styles have endured as well as keeping a close eye on the fashion world for new color combinations and shapes.
Actually using my Fibers degree and a lifelong love of hats passed down from my grandmother makes this job a perfect fit.
